I've been looking for an electric window kit for a while now and was watching a few on eBay whilst saving up...well, spending the money on more important things like my wedding(apparently!)

Anywho. I saw a kit on eBay suddenly increase from £185 to £400...and a short while later another from £185 to £389...

After a little look round the olde Interweb I found this:

LAND ROVER DEFENDER ELECTRIC WINDOW CONVERTER KIT BRAND NEW 2 YEAR WARRANTY [5044041] - £189.00 : Welcome to Carsparesdirect.com | Driveshaft | Cv joint | Crankshaft pulley | Propshaft | Car radiator | Window regulator

Which is identical to (and from the same people as this):
LAND ROVER DEFENDER ELECTRIC WINDOW CONVERTER KIT BRAND NEW 2 YEAR WARRANTY | eBay

Just in case anyone els is thinking of doing the same mod, it might be worth throwing in an order now!

I can document the change over if anyone is interested...?

Turned up today - definitely for both sides.

Hello. When I read about your conversion, I tried to get one kit myself. But CarSpares doesn't ship to Sweden. Is it possible that you (= any helpful soul) could help me by getting a kit and send it to Sweden? Of course I will pay you in advance, p&p and all.

Anyone? Please? Thankyou!

Hey Stu,

How is the power window working so far? I am thinking of getting this when I get a 110 and will also do a remote locking too.

Let me know what the quality is please and if the install went OK.

Thanks.

Lazy sod, just wind the window down by hand! :p :)

:D Man it ****es rain here sometimes and a friend of mine with a 5 door needs it badly.

A 3 door is not too bad, but to reach at the back with a station wagon or 4 door is tough. I have seen the entire units for sale, motor and complete mechanism which does not look too bad.

Seeing the Houdini Stu did it, I wanted to find out what he used and if there were quality issues.

Yes I would really like to see how it goes as looking to do this MOD to my V reg landy next month

I've fitted the universal ones to several cars and they are perfectly good if you do it properly and don't cut corners such as only attaching brackets to some of the bolt holes, not having the assembly in line etc etc. They have disadvantages in that they do require grinding, riveting and general messing about but at £100 for 4 with switches they are good value. I bought new front doors straight off a new 2011 so got genuine ones but if not I would have just gone for universal.
