Talk to me about Disco2 sunroof motors... This type...
Do they regularly have a sulk? I've got a non-Landy with a sulking but very, VERY similar sunroof motor - the only difference seems to be the limit switches. And I've got a spare motor, which is failing in the exact same way. What seems to be happening is that the armature of the motor has a worm on it, which drives the gearing box. Except, instead of rotating the gearing, the armature's being pulled forward against a fairly soft plastic thrust piece, which is providing insufficient resistance, and the armature is then binding up.
Any experience of similar, any easy fixes? I've tried washing the gearing out with solvent to relubricate, but that's not helping. The gearing isn't designed to be dismantled, and I'm reluctant to start trying to force the plastic gears off.
