So, I have tried a number of times to stop the leaks from my steering pump (NTC8287), but with no joy. I am fed-up with this and would very much so convert to an electric steering pump and wondering if anyone have done this before and if so what pump did they use?
 
I'd go for an electric column with its ECU from more or less any scrapper. They do tend to show a fault and quit at 10 years + leaving you heavy steering, but two that I've had just needed slightly dodgy grease replaced in the sensor.
 
Switching to an electric power steering pump can be a great solution if you're dealing with a persistent leak. I've got a few to name: Toyota MR2 Electric Power Steering Pump, Ford Fusion Electric Power Steering Pump, VW Passat Electric Power Steering Pump.
 
Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just buy a new PAS pump?
Have to say I think I agree with the above. moving to electric sound like a lot of unnecessary effort and expensive if you already have a pas system. Just repair and make good to oem. If you didn't have pas and were looking to fit as an upgrade ti would be different and I know a couple of conversions have used electric setups.

I hear that even new pumps will leak :( So why like to look into an electic one.
If a new pump leaks it should be returned under warrantee rather than replaced with something different.
