I have had my EGR blanked off but as my Discovery3 is a 2007 model, my engine management light is still on, is there any way to get the light off?

Think you will need an EGR software patch for 2007 onwards. Whoever did the blanking should have included this?

Sorry sent reply without engaging brain, no havnt got Gap iid, dont touch the disco myself, I tend to do more damage if I do, did look into purchasing one but would be a waist of money on my part.

Will go back to garage and get him to do it, he didnt suggest it, but there was so much work needs doing, have had aircon condensor, rear disc & pads, EGR blanked and also need both front wheel bearings replaced along with a few more bits, I think he didnt want to add to the costs, love my Discovery 3 but think I bought a wrong un!

no probs, lol

have they cleaned out ur MAP sensor as well at the same time, as they block up , but will be better know you've had the egrs blanked

i done mine a little while ago but mines a 2006 so didn't need the patch

u can see the last pic of the blocked map sensor

they do need the jobs doing when spotted , they will eat pads and bushes as it weighs 2.7 tons,

sounds like normal service items ;), apart from the condenser, lol

bought mine last year but it was a project and done a lot to it, also adore my D3

hope u don't mind me asking , have u had all the belts replaced and most importantly replaced the oil pump cover

TBH, I would call a vehicle that needs new discs and pads along with front wheel bearings a "wrong-un", they're just standard service items which naturally wear out. The EGR blanking is a reasonable idea but it's your choice. The air-con condenser unit .... well, as they say, "Sh1t happens".
Stick with it and you'll eventually end up with the vehicle you wanted.

plus not forgetting the wishbones ;):D

I'll be blanking my EGR's when they fail, being an 06 should be straightforward. +1 on @gstuart comment on the oil pump. Not to put the fear up you but the 07 models are the worst for oil pump casing failing & sending your timing belt off on a journey of destruction.
Just had 2 x front wheel bearings / hubs, N/S drive shaft & all brake disks & pads & full oil & filter service done since owning (4 months in) & i consider this to be normal servicing for such a heavy complex beast. Just need to get the gearbox flushed next.

have indeed seen a few reports ref the oil pump casings

found blanking the egrs straightforward , just fiddly getting the blanks fitted on the engine , i can see from the pics how bad the pipes and butterfly housing was , it passed its mot with no issues like that

my next job is my rear upper wishbones , will get the RRS ones, seeing it's a range rover chassis and the wishbones are supposed to be better

going to do my gearbox next year , personally will just drain the oil and replace , doing it twice

see a few are using this oil for the gearbox

I was quoted £240 for the gearbox flush with upgraded metal sump pan & dr tranny. Still toying with just changing the oil though.
Can't see the link for the gearbox oil?

considerably cheaper than the land rover ZF oil @ £20 per litre

Will be happy to just do a manual oil change , got mixed views regarding the powerflush along with the cost , understand a replacement gearbox is serious money , but is there truely any difference in keeping the gearbox in better condition , if the oil is manually vs it being flushed ??

i intend to drain and refill, then wait a few hundred miles then drop the oil again and refil

have put some service guides in the section , atf gearbox change is enclosed , in case it's of some use

Cheers for this. Much appreciated. Think i might go for a standard re-fill then another refill as you say. Changed the gearbox fluid & filter in my old P38 3 times (every 24k) so hoping it's not much more involved, seems to be a similar procedure. ;)

ur very welcome , as there's a few of us D3 owners here now, think it's nice to be able to share info

i also done a double fill and drain with my jatco gearbox on the hippo , that was on 190,000 miles and gearbox was extremely smooth with no jumping

see the ZF gearbox is also done with the engine running and checking the level between 40 -50c (50c MAX ) , don't know if it's the same as ur P38

hope the service thread i done is of some use to u, includes the gearbox oil change for the D3

see ZF at first said these gearboxes are sealed for life, but with more information coming out is recommend the oil to be replaced at 150,000 miles but many do them at 100,000 miles

Thanks again,
Yes, hopefully there will be more D3 owners on here, been on here for the past 5 years whilst keeping the P38 up to scratch. Mine was on 100k when i got it & 187,000 miles before we parted & gearbox was silky smooth, shame about the continual engine woes ( got pretty fed up with stripping engine down every 6 months). Yes, the ZFHP24 P38 box is done the same way but is a sump off job to change the filter then refill from cold after cycling through all gears. Mines on 110,000 miles now & no mention in service history of a gearbox oil change so ready me thinks.

is suprising how many reports i read regarding the jatco gearbox and how many garages either under or overfilled them, as they didnt know how to do them

mines on 98,000 so also think it's time , have u seen the trick where u can pump most of the gearbox oil out via the gearbox intercooler hose , then use a plastic jerry can, adapting it , pressuring it and pump the oil back in
