It's wise to replace all the vacuum pipes anyway. You can buy the stuff by the metre, and you'll need about 3 metres to change them all.
Yes, that's pretty normal and won't be doing the performance any good. You'll need to remove the manifold completely and clean out the pile of goop that's in there.

Be careful of that black gloop, its gets everywhere. When I did my L Series I thought I was clean, but a tiny spec on your shoe makes a big mess on a cream coloured carpet when you go inside!

Might help also for the turbo hose, air intake and so on, fit and forget
I get it from my local motor factors. You need 3.5mm ID pipe, or close to it. I find 4mm ID a bit loose on some connections.

Here you go, you are doing a good job did you completely clean the manifold out, and when you did clean, was the MAP sensor removed to do so, if not it may have got damaged.

You could also change the leak off joint from plastic to brass a lot more safe, as the plastic ones can and do go brittle.

I always have at least four manifolds clean and ready to fit to R40 or FL1 for our meets.
