I know the subject of EGR removal is a well posted subject, with varying degrees of result.
Yesterday I removed the the EGR unit, replaced it with a 'straight through' fitiing, blanked off the exhaust manifold end and removed the pipe from 'exhaust to inlet manifold'. Didn't get the chance to test it yesterday.
Went out this morning (forgot about the EGR removal), pulled out of my gravel drive, waited for a gap in the traffic, foot on the floor. BLOODY HELL!
I shot off in a cloud of dust and gravel, the difference was unbelievable! Prior to EGR removal the vehicle had the acceleration of a Morris Minor van I had many years ago (0 to 50 in 10 minutes), I assumed this was how a TD5 was, how wrong I was.
The EGR was encrusted with thick gooey tar so I doubt that it worked anyway. At some point I will remove the inlet manifold and clean that out, all that goo cannot be good for the engine.
