Hi Guys

Well I'm going to have to declare defeat on my EAS I'm afraid due to lack of time (and understanding I guess)

I have all new air springs
New height sensors
Re-sealed valve block
Overhauled Compressor
changed the EAS controller under the seat
Changed the dash height selector switch
Fitted new plugs and sockets to the wiring behind the kick plate and soldered the wires into the new connectors

STILL she seems to do whatever she fancies, and there are NO fault codes showing on the EAS RS software or my FAULTMATE FCR the car will seem perfectly alright then the yellow truck with the up arrow comes on the dash and the suspension goes up to extended height and will not come down again without plug in in the RS software and lowering the car using this or disconnecting the pipes etc to drop it down

SO as we are considering going to the Dorset Steam fair this year in Aug, I have decided to try and get some specialist help to get this fixed once and for all while travelling to the fair, hence hopefully killing the proverbial 2 birds with one stone !

Can anyone recommend a garage who would be relatively close to Salisbury / Blanford Forum to get this looked at and fixed ? I love the car to bits but travelling overseas to work each month and the inclement weather at home in Ireland means I'm sick of trying to get this resolved !

Thanks in advance

Driver Pack.......???

Hi if by this you mean the electronic module in the EAS box I have changed this along with my completely refurbished valve block I then refurbished the old valve block with all new seals etc and changed back (with the original drive pack) and the same thing is happening:confused2:

I had a reply before when posting about my EAS that the dash light can signify a fault found but there are none recorded and my faultmate or the RS software ? just this persistence to go to extended height:confused:

ALL the ride height level values are within the allowable ranges (thanks Whammers) but it still persists in trying (and nearly succeeding) in driving me to distraction

Sounds like a height sensor giving intermittant readings. It's a soft fault as you don't get the slow 35 mph message. Otherwise connectors behind the kick panel in the drivers footwell.

This is usually down to the height selector switch or the wiring connection behind the kick panel, but you say you have checked both of these!

The Amber Lamp with the up arrow indicates 2 things....in a normally working vehicle is a tell-tale that the vehicle is at the extended height....when all the lamps on the control switch are lit this plus the Amber Lamp indicates there is a fault!

If there are no faults stored on the ECU and yet you get the four flashing lamps on the control switch this is most odd...

Hi Datatek

As I say all new height sensors unless I got a duff one ? interested you say connectors in DRIVERS footwell ? I have done the plugs as per my post in the Passenger (RHD Car) are there more in the Drivers side ?

For further info the car will be sat at normal height and I can raise and lower at will on the switch as I should be able to do, thenfor no apprent reason the top light starts flashing on the switch and the car raises to extended height and the dash light comes on normally the 'normal' (second one down) light on the siwtch (whichever I have fitted into the car) is on steady and the top one remains flashing and now its basically STUCK and I cannot do anything with it ?
I can select to lower the car using the switch and the access light will flash (normal on steady) but nothing happens and after a couple of minutes it goes back to normal steady and extended being flashing all the time the dash light is on and I cannot get it off untill I have either manually (releasing air) or using RS software lowered the car.

Then the whole cycle would start again after a while

Surely there must be someone down south in the UK taht is on the ball with the P38 EAS ?

Bit confused by this. So it's going into soft fault mode but not reporting a fault?

Maybe it's not in soft fault mode and something is making it think that you want it to go to extended height (ie a stuck switch or dodgy connection). It sounds a bit unlikely though, especially as you've changed the switch.

How are you getting it to come down again when you plug in your diagnostics? By clearing a fault, or commanding a height change?

Oops, just caught up with the rest of the replies - it does sound like an iffy connection somewhere.

What happens if you press the inhibit switch?

I usually keep mine held at motorway height (I think it rides slightly better) and press access when parking to make it easier for my wife to get in & out. On re-starting it just goes straight back to motorway height.

It does seem like a switch related problem - +1 on checking the wiring.

Good luck

try my guy Brian on 07715 322551 he knows p38s inside out
always sorts mine out.

Where is he located please ?

Does he have a garage (website?) any email address so I can get hold of him ? ( ringing from Thailand is not easy and expensive !)

That could be worth a try. Press the inhibit switch when it goes to the wrong height, then press the desired height and when all stable switch the inhibit switch back off. Should stay there.

Thanks again this is something to try and see if it will at least stop it going to extened and locking up, however NOt the final answer / fix to get it working as it should
