Components rated at 85C, compressor running temperature up to 120C underbonnet temperatures in the 80'sC, heat trapped in the top of the box, recipe for problems with anything electronic, less a case of disguising a fault as giving the components a better chance of surviving.
New driver packs would, I guess, be likely to be a good few years old.
This is my take on venting it. A series of small holes directly above the compressor as well as some slightly larger vent holes as others have done. I have some black steel mesh from a Cooler Master pc case to fit under the holes to trap debris, but not got around to it yet - and I might not bother...

Water and dirt ingress, I wouldn't even have an opening in the top surface, mine are at the side on the sloping edge.Would there be a problem with just takeing the lid off??
