Good evening,

I am taking up this thread. I would like to be able to read and delete errors.
If I understand correctly, I need a laptop, the software from RSW (https://www.rswsolutions.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=56)???

and the cable - here's the problem - which cable? Thanks!!!!
Read and delete which errors? EAS or other systems? Your link is for the free EAS software for which you need a Windows laptop or tablet and a USB to serial adaptor as well as the cable. Depending where you are located, I can supply the cable or give you the information to make your own which is also available on the RSW web site. If you are keeping the car, you would be better investing in a Nanocom.

As said above, either make your own or buy the EAS Serial cable from Datatek or eBay.

Watch out for many of the cables online. The part with blue connectors is the USB-Serial required for laptops without a serial port. You need one with FTDI Chipset inside the 9-pin connector. Most ebay sellers do not specify, and the Prolific or Chinese chipsets are problematic with the EAS-Unlock software.

is it also relevant - if I do not want to use the USB cable? or must the USB cable be used?

I have sent an e-mail to the seller.

The Prolific chip works fine on XP if it's a full RS 232 implementation. Win10 does not support the Prolific chip, there is no driver available. The trouble with the Prolific adaptors is that many only support X-ON/X-OFF so no RTS line.

Good morning all,

I will receive the cable on Thursday. The laptop is ready. The software is installed.
I have started the software and had a look at it - everything is fine so far.
But what I can't find is the button to clear the errors? How does this work with the software?

I have this software:

Thanks!

On the home page, there is a button that says "Unlock EAS" next to the button that says "Clear All", click on that to clear the faults. When you come to use the software, you must get a green button with "Good Idle" or any faults you see will be phantom faults.
