DSE exhaust... twin petrol mod???

I think your car will have a cut out in the rear valence for the single exhaust, the twin system turns down and stops short so the cut out is not needed. Looks odd with the cut out one side and not the other with the twin system fitted. BMW (they are the ultimate image purveyors) fitted the twin system purely for image so the diesel looked the same as the V8 from the rear.
If you want to improve the gas flow, remove the cat if yours has one.

Im looking into a possible de-cat pipe and getting rid of the center silencer, did you make your own mods to your exhaust or did you do it yourself

Does your have twin cut outs in the rear valance (making it an age differance)

i did the mods myself, a nice bit of 62mm stainless if my memorys servs takes the place of the weighty and restrictive box and cat. you can flog the cat after aswel and make the money back you spent on the stainless, win win.

Only thing a diesel is tested for is smoke. So decatting one is no problem they don't make a lot of CO2 anyway. Removing centre silencer would make it throatier. But there is the part of the MOT that says make sure no parts of the exhaust are missing to get over. But most would think that means check that the tail pipe has not fallen off. Just depends how clued up your tester is. Plus the fact that if the vehicle was made in or after 1993 it has to be fitted with a cat by law which most moders seem to ignore.

Diesel engines do not need a cat for mot, even if they had 1 from new... its allways been this way and ive checked with a friend who works for VOSA, he basicaly sends cars to mot stations that have allready been tested by the ministry to catch out rip off mot'ers and dodgy ticket issuers. (bastards trick really in one sence) but at least there shouldnt be as many death traps on the road like some 1 on here got stitched with.
