Just seen a mini dehumidifier in Aldi for less than £4 o_O

Proper mains powered one? Edit: can only see a large unit over £100 on their site :(

I'm improvising just now with a portable oil filled heater and a large desk fan behind it - seems to be working reasonably well with the opposite doors kept open a touch.

So... it looks like you have to take the entire centre console out to get the carpet out?!

Are there bolts through the cubby that hold it down? Seems stuck fast there and I can't see any inside.

The procedure is in RAVE. Look in "Workshop Manual --> Chassis & Body --> Repair --> Centre Console".

Roughly 8 screws, 2 nuts, 2 bolts & the handbrake clevis pin !!

Just checked in RAVE and yeah, they're definitely there. Maybe there's just too much ****e in the cubby hole for me to see them

From memory it just lifts out,a scraper or knife may help, sorry couldn't check out that dehumidifier, I was reminded that I'm in isolation until Sunday except for essential shopping.

But.. this *IS* essential!

totally understand though. Good to see someone actually following the rules.

What makes this an especially fun job is the DVD player I have with screens in the headrests. Whoever installed it did a pretty decent job.. but then intertwined all the ****e through various holes in the centre console and cubby box for the IR headphones... so I've had to snipsnipsnip. LOVELY.

The underlay foam takes ages to dry. I took the rear seats, carpets & underlay out when I first got the car 7 years ago. Had the undelay hanging up in the garage for about 2-3 weeks before it was finally dry. Car was somewhat noisier during, but was able to sort minor surface corrosion on the inside panels.

Front carpets & underlay are more work to remove, but worthwhile if they are soaked. With centre console & seats removed, there should be small gap under the heater so you can pull them out.

remove the centre console, this will liberate it..

The carpet is held mid way up the firewall with a few plastic lugs IIRC remove them and the carpet comes out ;)

I've pretty much got it free everywhere now apart from the front centre console - looks like it's fixed in there somewhere or something has it clamped down? Absolutely zero movement there up over the tunnel, under everything.

Jus;)t checked in RAVE and yeah, they're definitely there. Maybe there's just too much ****e in the cubby hole for me to see them
When you clear the sh1te out if you work a small hook under the front of the base panel and pull it upwards all will be revealed,I've Just done it on mine to remind myself how to remove it.this is what I used.work the tip in,turn 90 degrees and pull up.
