[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YscTH3JF68"]YouTube- Chapter 01 - Basic Types of Winches[/ame] obviously this guy is american and as such is a hoop but i found every one of his videos very very helpfull when learning about winching. especially winching backwards from a front facing winch as this is very usefull. he aslo gives you the basic calcs you will need and some very sensible advice. as with everything, know it before you do it!!

How much did it cost you all in ? If you ever damage it it costs virtually nothing to replace the angle iron anorl.
I've only ever used mine once and that was in the truck rather than the landy. I had a disco 3 stuck in a ditch down a greenlane. The landrover assistance guy that went out got himself stuck on the other side of the ditched vehicle while attempting to extract him. I couldn't get my truck to stay still on the mud. I was just getting dragged sideways. I used my ground anchors to pull sideways while keeping my truck in line with the cable.
Worked a treat for me too.

didnt cost me anything. im in the building trade and lots of merchants like me
i did find tho that i was more comfortable to just put all 5 in the ground leaning away from the landy and put a tree strop around them. did find if they was chained together then one would move and make everyone nervous. have you ever been down to a play gound near wroughton called burdrop hill?

mmm...... nicethought ..... but think proper men dont bother with them because the recognise they live in reality as opposed to fantasy and understand if they hold out for fantasy they're likely never to sex in their lifes-

if yer get a winch, do a winch course or similar.You tube vids are a good start but not really enough.
