That's why I swapped.
I fitted bars to carry stuff on on my soft top

That looks cool.
That looks cool.
Don’t forget an update when you e had the Tdi fitted. Mine is great, I wouldn’t have a 19J unless it’s getting sold abroad! And some pics of the conversion if you can.
Have you changed the temp sender? You need the Disco unit rather than the Defender unit.UPDATE - picked it up this afternoon, starts when you turn the key, can change up the gears when going up hills !! does not smell anywhere near as poisonous...Will be towing with it tomorrow so that will be a good test. Temp gauge not working for some reason. Will add some pics soon.

Ah I hadn’t realised it was a Defender engine, I thought you’d have done the usual Disco engine conversion. Not sure but Its a defender 200tdi engine which has gone in to replace the 19J - I'm sure its something simple
Who did the engine change? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on towing. Mine tows great!
Cool will have a look when I have some spare time (never!) the gauge is dead as a dodo no movement at allAh I hadn’t realised it was a Defender engine, I thought you’d have done the usual Disco engine conversion.
Check you thermostat.
Well if it worked before and you’ve used the old loom, then either the sender is knackered or the thermostat is stuck. But if I was you I be making sure the engine isn’t over heating. Have you checked your oil?Cool will have a look when I have some spare time (never!) the gauge is dead as a dodo no movement at all

The 200tdi runs pretty cool anyway. I ran for a few weeks without a working fan and never over heated. The thermostat is always a good place to start, for a new one to be safe. Then fit a new sender, again, might as well.If the thermostat was stuck would it not show overheating on the guage which was previously working -I’ve only driven it 10 miles or so and was fine (I think) heater working etc

That set up looks pretty good - is it the heavy duty hood sticks from purely metal ?
yes but slightly modified by me
Cool I have been Looking at them, they look really strong - is it a standard cab hood you have there?
No, the hood is a truck cab hood from all wheel trim, ring them up, great company to deal with. The hood is well made and fits well and is much warmer and quieter than a full tilt.

I do have a standard length hood aswell and it fits on the bars just the same as it would on the standard bars
