I just thought I'd add abit of info here, had door cable problems a few years ago replaced with non LR parts, and the door handle didnt feel quite right after that, anyway over Christmas and in the cold weather the outer cable stopped working, then before new year the inner also stopped working. Spent a couple of weeks getting in from passenger side. Finally brought it in the workshop last night. With both not functioning the door card was abit of a challenge, undid the 3 screws the one next to the seat is abit awkward, just moved seat all the way forwards. Undo the bolt behind the little airbag badge, you can then carefully get the card to move off the door enough to get a torch etc down the inside of it. Have the window lowered to do this and stand on the outside of the car. I then cut abit of aluminium at work about 2ft long and half inch wide, shone the torch, down the length of the glass and slid the ally bit on the outside of the glass into the door, you can then get it to push on a metal pin on top of the lock and open the door, no damage to door card, glass or lock. Then take the card off, lubricate the lock and put it back together again. I disconnected the battery while moving the airbag off to the side, didnt disconnect it. I used genuine LR cables both inside and out, and the door handles feel totally different, much better. I read all this stuff about taking a grinder to the door, or smashing windows, you just have to take your time and work carefully and it goes fine and no damage to the car. If the door clips break on the card, the new JLR epc doesnt show them as a separate item, the new part number is LR013135 for those. Maybe save someone some search effort if they have the same problem.
Just add that neither of my cables were broken but were rusty, and stretched.
