Door latch - help needed

Hi, I'm in the process of replacing a knackered lock actuator (Disco 2). But I'm struggling sussing how to remove the rod which attaches the external door handle to the actuator but I'm worried that I might damage one of the plastic fitting on either end.
Any help would much appreciated

According to RAVE u have "2. Release exterior handle control rod from latch."
....so use brute force...just do it gently

Cheers for the response but I'm still not happy forcing it cos I know the ****ey plastic fitting will break!! I really need someone who's done the job as it'sprobably simple and obvious but I'm struggling anyway. I'm also having a go at getting it out without total removal of the window rails. I've removed the rail fixing bolts top and bottom and know the latch will get past it if I can only disconnect that rod !!!

When I did my rear door, I followed the manual and took the window glass out. It didn't take much longer and gave so much more room to work. I seem to remember the link came off easily then, though I couldn't disconnect it with the window in place. It does clip in but it's not that tight.

The plastic fitting fits into semi-circular slot on the arm of the actuator. Is it a case of getting the blade of a screwdriver in the slot and prising it out?

Didn't need a lot of force - just a firm push I seem to remember. When fitting, you hook the end of the link (which is bent over 90 degrees) over the clip and then push it until it locks. Removal is reverse of this, so you will need to push the link towards the actuator and then lift it up.

I was warned not to drop the link if it is a rear door as it will disappear into the bowels of the door never to be seen again.

That's another reason to take the window frame out - if you can get the 55 (I think) Torx on a small socket set, they come out quite easily, and everything becomes MUCH easier. Only tricky bit was detching the window from the window regulator, but the whole lots comes out in one go and you can see what you are doing.
