Door hinges: how much play is too much?

Hi guys,

Another terribly exciting question from me..

I'm fitting new doors, I have a variety of door hinges from various different Defenders, all of which have up/down play in them as if the pin is worn. Has anyone bought new hinges? Do new hinges have play in them? Are they supposed to be a bit loose?

Cheers

Oli

I got the RJ ones. They are TD5 model ones from Germany (or at least mine were judging by the boxes). If it's an odd one you're after let me know as I have a box full of part worn original ones.

I also have the RJ ones same as the above members..... I fitted them 3 years ago together with stainless bolts. They are genuine Land Rover hinges, the batch was rejected due to a slight colour issue, they come in white. I primed and sprayed using tins, nothing special.
Result..... 3 harsh winters and no rust bleeds. For £20 a set these are the dogs bits.... one of my better buys!
