Does this matter?

When I was fixing a problem with my 200TDI injection pump last week I had to remove the throttle lever from the splined shaft as seen in this photo that a guy posted on another forum below:



The guide I read on the web says that the throttle lever has to be re-installed on the splines exactly as it was taken off using the markings on the lever. I never marked anything up but does any one know the reason for ensuring this is re-fitted as it came off? I imagine it is to ensure that the throttle opens the same as before, or is there more to it?

Can't see how it would make any difference except that the throttle opens and closes as before.

Just what I thought but I do wonder!

That in't mine! And i don't have very short little stubby nails like that either That photo is from a Seat forum I think. Well, I found it yesterday, the bloke has done a full re-build thread of his pump with pics.
