Do I have a cracked block ?

Did my p38 4l gems timing cover gasket today due to coolant leak and found Coolant leaking from main waterway into a long bolt hole in timing cover....then running down the cuetip in the picture, water stopped running out when drained to same level as end of bolt hole......gasket was tired so dont know what caused leak...

I'm thinking,
1. Design fault
2. Friday afternoon job
3. Whoever did it last used wrong sized bolt...and overtightened
4. Overheated and cracked
5. Just past it, generally
6, totally normal and they are all like that.
Any one come across this before and if a fault, is there a recognised cure.???
I'm thinking drain more out, allow to dry and refill bolt hole with rtv...and maybe fit a marine grade bolt wrapped in ptf tape. 😂

Wrong bolt may have been fitted a blown bottom of hole. Use Hylomar on threads of bolt on reassembly. Before case is assembled put Hylomar sparingly into hole, just enough to fill threads. Assemble case. Fill bolt threads with Hylomar allow solvent to evaporate, 30 mins, put a small bead around edge of bolt tip. Screw bolt in whilst bead of Hylomar is wet and secure bolt.

I think it's normal. Mine certainly came out one of the bolt holes.

Mine was the same when I did waterpump, once you reassemble it will be ok.

Thinking about it, I had water from the bolt holes on my GEMS too....

your timing chain looks loose? If you replace it get a 'tight' one. They come in two types.

Me too. I also replaced my timing chain with a tight one. No idea what it does though! The tight bit I mean, not the timing chain. I know what that does!

Stops chain slap....will still stretch over time mind....but it prevents the chain from whipping back and forth as it only bends one way!

Do I have a cracked block ?
