DIY pop top ?

Look at this, it has everything you could ask for and very good starting point it is as well. I would love to know how the rising roof was done, but have tried to contact the owner (vie eBay) but have no response yet.

What I am after is: the diminsions of the cut fabric and the actuall material used, was a hing used at the front of the roof(if not, how is it hinged).
What is used to make sure the top and lower parts of the roof, when closed remain water tight.
What components are used to keep the roof up(locked in place) and down to secure it when your driving. Does the bit at the back require Velcro( above door) or has another method been found to cover that part.
Does it effect mot, insurance or the strength of the 110

So in reply to your question, no I don't know how it was done...but do you ?

yeah, its not hard to work it out, as for fabric just buy a sheet measure yourself and cut

It could be a sheet of marmalade for all I know, lol
On the eBay site he says he would change a few things( ie from experience) so I prefer to know what he would change as he has obviously done the research...so that we don't have to do quite so much research

I am still tring to get hold of the owner....

id rather hope sides have support ,the ones ive seen have a lower frame that replaces roof and roof is attached to that

saw a noo one at the shows recently roof is fitted to a raised frame then it's hinged along the side with 2 additional full length panels. when lifted the roof stands vertical and the 2 extra panels form a triangular roof. very neat job but he was asking about £5k for the conversion

I've seen one with a scissor jack style set up that locks and gives support but from the looks of things he's just propping that one up with two twigs

The one on ebay looks a bit flimsy though!

We had a pop-top caravan and the roof went up with mini-shocks, (same as on hatchback but more pressure), and latched shut with locking latches ...
