Discovery EKA problems

So I have a 2001 Discovery TD5. The battery was disconnected and when reconnected alarm was sounding.. The fob has never worked but locking with the key stopped the alarm sounding. Unlocking and opening the door set it off again. Got the EKA code entered and the alarm light stopped flashing. Opened door and no alarm BUT as soon as i put the key close to the ignition barrel the alarm set off again......Any ideas? Driving me crazy....Thanks

Try a new battery in the fob.

After you enter the EKA code you need to wait 5 minutes (you will hear another beep) and after that you open the door and start the car. Did you do that?
