Great work, again, you'll lose a few pounds working in that heat ! That journal with the plastigauge on it looks to have insufficient oil clearance , I remember in my motorbike days it being a PITA,all the best.
After banging my head on the bench last night after work, can also reccomend jamaican dragon stout, came up with a plan refit original mains I marked position and location on removal, cleaned everything and re installed low and behold spot on 0.038 (see pic) going to refit kings just to double check but I do seem to remember a German fella mentioned this, new kings are for 2.7 and marked standard
@gstuart Sorry mate reference salvage uk yes sounds gorgeous, go on get one you first but don't wait too long Lol, great mechanic too did a really good job, out in the yard too, some extremely difficult bolts to get to but nothing's impossible go on you know you want one all the best
Can confirm have found issues with bearings with many pointers from Lr time he is absolutely spot on king mains MB4276SV do not fit 276dt even though advertised every where as so mains housing of 2.7 internally is 74.98 and the 306dt bearing is for a housing of 75.098-009 you can only fit if you line bore to 306dt specification unfortunately have ruined the kings over crushed have ordered Fia bearings bm1013std have been assured these are correct even so on some websites 2.7 or 3.0
Thanks mate still have much to do and learn, will get block on a stand and take a few pics over next week or so, just waiting for shells now so can resume plastigauge, it's been quite a crankshaft learning curve this week my brain is still hurting Lol will pm you at some point if that's ok have another visit to machine shop and some plastigage to do first, yes maybe give it a try just have to pluck up courage, many thanks for your help and support all the best
