Ok so as promised.... u hum... a few days ago here is a progress report all the pics of the rear end coming back together.....

Ok so I said I was going to panel the rear windows. I also said to DiscoNic that I would show how I did it but judging from his pics he is a lot better at this than me... Anyways heres how it went

Rear glass as template

Draw around the edge

About 6mm out from the glass is enought to make sure you have room to rivet

All cut out, I used a jigsaw its only 1mm steel..

I measured around the edge and just divided it until I came up with a nice number then marked them around.

I then carried on and drilled it on the car... this was an error...

I made a template of the distance between the studs and used a punch so that the dill bit centred

I just continued round with the rivets marking and drilling each one. As I said before doing it on the car was an error, not a dropped bollock error but it took a lot longer. For the other side I used the template, marked and drilled it on the bench. I then held it up and riveted four holes through the body work to pull the corners in then just filled in the rivets between. Before I drilled it I ran round with a ton of seam sealer and squished it on to that so hopefully it will be water tight.... :D

Ok so continue.. Heres some more pics of the rear....

HANG ON!!! DOGS BEEN ON THE PHONE AGAIN!!!!
Little git...
He was giving me a hug for fixing his forest-walk-wagon.... they love riding in the front...

Loving my new wheels, although this photo makes it look a little under wheeled.. Landy turned round at this point, started first time and brakes worked... PHEW!!

So now started on the front end....

More rust....

Started on my 10 quid sills..

In place.... and cold galved

Its not the prettiest but I will seam seal it and paint it later..

HANG ON!!! Not again.... ....watching his favourite program SOA...

Anyway I will try to add some more soon ... I know you've heard that before!!!! ... I have now got the wing off the other side and removed the font suspension and front axle. SO next job is going to be the mechanical side of things. I am going to tackle the timing belt and water pump. Also give her a good service... More steep learning, never done anything close to this before but hey in for a penny in for .... well.. a few hundred so far!!!

Some of those photos take me back, lots of grinding, lots of welding and lots of painting but it will be worth it in the end! Nice job on the sill

Well done, what are the paints your using for the diff and wings etc, I'm not 100% sure what to do with mine when I put it back together, I was going to seam seal and zink paint the inner wings, but I'm not sure about the top coat.

I have brought all my stuff from Smith and Allan. Providing you are buying several things at once they do some very good paint for good prices. I used their cold galvanizing paint on top of fertan. I then primed that with red oxide and finished with the chassis paint they do. Once I have finished I'm going to spray underseal up on the boot floor and inside the wings. Nice and thick :D still miles to go yet and a cold hard winters worth of work to do.... On the brighter side though thinking of adding a p38 to the stable... V8 POWER... :violent:..... maybe... not sure yet though...

Also rock your avatar mate... love that film....

Looking good mate. Made some progress there. That's my next job the sills. Going for box section myself.

Cheers mate, yeah the 120x60 slides in beautifully.... with a jack and a sledge hammer... no only joking I did jack it and it needed a little encouragement but all in all it went pretty well. Best of luck with yours :D

Looking good fella, glad to see you went with 120x60 not the standard 100x60 that so many use, personally i went with 140 but then i added some dirty big stump sliders in there too.

keep up the good work :D

If I'm honest it wasn't so much a conscious choice as what I could find in the massive piles of metal that fitted the bill. Still got to do the other side yet then it will be seam sealer all round and painting..... :D

Looking good. Box sills are brilliant. I am thinking of using truck load liner under the arches, a mate has got his L200 done and it's fairly robust stuff. Best of luck with the rest of the build.

Sounds interesting.... Truck load liner? How thick is it? I really wanted some stuff that would not fall off with stone chips and that would help the steely bits not to rust as much as possible anyways... :)

Just read V8Jons thread on the fuel pump tweak, actually found the website before I found the thread. Anyways, don't think I'll bother with a intercooler for now, I'll just take the one I have and give it a good rinse out with white spirit. I have asked if anyone who has done the tweak has had any problems and if a egt is worth it, so we shall see when I eventually get to that point....

That bed liner stuf is brilliant, unbelievably strong! just pricey

Ok so after that little discussion above went and found this stuff Protecta-Kote 4 litre Grey not necessarily this colour... think grey and black are pretty cool though...

Its probably not as good as line-x etc however for that price with no primer needed one tin will probably do the car... I'd still have all the black bits and keep them black... not sure have to play around with some ideas...

It isn't very thick but dries strong. Will do mine in the spring after I get the EFi wired in and working. Looking at your progress you will be finished before me

Hopefully early next year :high5: but as I said I've got to face a cold hard winter first :D I like to drive on with projects so I can get to the fun bits. I feel like once I get it road worthy then I can take my time and fettle.... Thinking I may re trim the seats with Exmoor trim kit as well... They are a bit knackered and now have rather a lot of metal bits embedded from grinding and welding....
