Disco1 vibrates at 70mph

Hi

I need some help on this one ... if i am driving on smooth road around 70mph the disco works good . the instant I hit a hole/depression the disco will start to vibrate and resonate with increasing amplitude (real scary)..

I f it was a suspension problem I will expect the steering to vibrate , but since its the whole vehicle I was wondering if it could be the propshaft?

Where does the problem feel to be coming from?
Front or Rear?

I'd be checking the tyres first for pressure & normal wear. then shock absorbers, then all the suspension joints and so on.

It may be helpful to you to have somebody follow you to see if there's anything obvious when it happens.

Does it decrease if you back off?

If you lift your foot, dip the clutch & coast, does it change?

Need more info.

When I drop off the speed the vibration stops.. But I think it starts from the front . The disco is automatic. When I first got the disco and experience the problem I change the suspension system but it improved a bit but the problem didn't solved... I tried tightening the steering box to rid any play and that didn't help.

70 MPH is not fast enough when you are late for work.
 
I had the same problem when collecting my tuck I spoke to a man in the know and he told me the torsion bar on the rear had gone on mine, however, it could be the shocks or suspension on this bud.
 
In my standard 300tdi auto I cruise at 70-75 and tow horses at 60. Absolutely solid, no vibration etc.

Basically, vertical vibration and front to back role are controlled by your shocks, horizontal by the bushes, side to side role by anti-role bars and line of travel by track rods et al, at front, and torsion bars at rear. In reality everything works together.

1st. On acceleration or deceleration, not breaking, does the back end twitch. If so torsion arm bushes or bolts worn.
2nd Does the vibration come through the steering wheel. Suspect track rod et all, wheel bearings.
Next, check shocks, bushes etc. Shocks should be changed periodically for safety, affects breaking as well as comfort

I have currently got a vibration on my steering caused my worn panhard rod bushes.
Start the engine and get a helper to move the steering side to side whilst you look under the front.
Check to see what moves and more importantly how much the axle moves.
 
When's your mot due?

If it's in the near future you could go & get it done now, effectively a free diagnostic.

First thing I'd be doing though is jacking up the front end & shaking it all about to see what's what.
