Have had our Disco 4 since new, a 2015 HSE which sadly the engine with only 82K miles on it decided not to be friendly anymore.

Crank issue it seems, and engine .... needs to be replaced.

Sourced a potential engine replacement, supposedly out of a 2016 sport with only 56k miles on it, rear shunt job we have been advised. However how can you know if it can be used in the disco without any issues.

Replacement : On the donor engine (RR Sport) it has a metal plate at the top with the following number 1008775306DTA, which comes with gear box and turbos

Dead / Old; Whilst on the now dead disco 4, it has the number 1003743306DTB.

Is this a simple swap, or is this not a suitable replacement. Will the engine need to be re-coded / electronically adjusted to work ok?

Any advice would be appreciated before a big chunk of money is shelled out, on an already nightmare experience.

My brother in law had a RR Sport TDV6 installed into his 2014 Disco 4.

It just has to be done right. There is no coding, because you are only swapping the mechanicals - the electronics will remain the same. I don't know what extent of ancilliaries need swapping, but things like exhausts or intakes may all be diffrent shaped... but maybe not.

Worst case, you use the long block and swap all the ancilliaries over.
