I have got my old transfer box from my 300TDi which I am going to fit to my defender as its a leak free tight box.

I am thinking its a straight swap (I will need to swap my handbrake across) or am I mistaken?

Is there any odds and sods I need or should be doing?

I am putting in an island4x4 order today so want to get any bits, I am going to order input/output seals e.t.c.

hand brake bracket will be missing the 2x 8mm tapped holes on rear of speedo housing on the box from 300tdi ,usuallyt best to do before its fitted

You have to drill a hole in the defender handbrake bracket that lines up with one of the holes in the disco transfer box. You'll never be able to do it whilst its on the vehicle, so take the bracket off and do it before.

There are actually two holes but one of them lines up in a position on the bracket that you can't drill IIRC, so i only did one, and its been fine. You will also need a spacer piece between the tfer box and bracket, a stack of large washers will do the trick.

Should all make sense when u get em in front of ya. ;)
