I know it can be done visa versa but was wondering if there's any way of mounting disco 1 wheels on a disco 2 with the stud patterns being different or is it a no go. Was just wondering as I've seen some disco 1 off-road tyres that would look the part and are considerably better value for money.

Disco 2 wheels fit on a D1 really ?? The stud patterns are different.
When I say visa versa I understand the stud patterns are completely different but can be achieved with wheel spacer adapters. What I guess I'm asking is can you get wheel spacer adapters for discovery 2 to fit discovery 1 tyres without breaking the bank. Just need some direction where to look or if it's a pointless venture. Thanks. Sorry if I'm not making sense.

Why not simply purchase a set 7J x 16 steel wheels that will match the D2 stud pattern
and fit your tyres to them. Standard 16 inch D2 wheels are 8J I believe. not that make much of a difference..
If, adaptors are available, then no doubt u can find them with a Google search

Ah I see, Its not cost effective mate the adaptors are a fortune Devon 4x4 sell them but ive never seen any to fit D1 wheels on a D2, some cheaper ones on ebay but I would trust them tbh.

But not for the UK market. It would be mainland Europe as the nearest place where 7J x16 wheels were available for the P38 and D2 at the time of production I believe.
Why is that I wonder? My P38 in France and most of my clients had them.
Here only the gringo 4.6 V8s have the wide rims

Are you looking at 15inch tyres ?
If not, as said, you can use 16 inch D2 / P38 wheels. Although there are no aftermarket 7inch wide D2 wheels, there are 8 inch & wider which all give quite a good choice of good off-road tyres.
