Hi all, on the look out for a used defender came across the Dillers 4x4 site in Leeds. I see they only offer mobile numbers as opposed to landlines which made me a little sceptical. Has anyone any experience of the company?

Thanks

J.

Hello,

I happen to know of the two chaps who run the company. They are Indians;- Father & Son and from my own experience, they are both very straightforward and honest and they do have a genuine interest in Land Rovers. Their vehicles tend to be immaculate both structurally / mechanically and in appearance, hence the reason why their prices are usually a little cut above the rest. They take their Landy's down to Jake Wright Land Rover Specialists in Burley-In-Wharfedale, a reputable local Land Rover specialists, who carry out any necessary work from new parts, servicing and waxoiling etc. (Landrover restoration and sales - Yorkshire, uk). I wouldn't let the mobile phone numbers put you off, they're both constantly mobile so a landline would be useless.

I've only ever spoken to them briefly, but from my knowledge, they have never received any negative feedback, so it's worth a try. Their Land Rovers are certainly top notch anyway.

Thanks for the info!

I'd been in touch with Jake wright About a defender 110 300tdi he had for sale and was surprised to find when I googled it that I found the Dillers website, where the exact same defender was for sale for £1000 more?!?

A closer look revealled that Jake Wright had another three defenders for sale that were also on the Dillers website, but there was up to £3000 difference in price between the sites for the exact same registrationed defender??

I was really interested in buying the 110 from Jake Wrights but have now come to the conclusion that he's overpriced.... Just look at the red 90 300tdi defender R869KOJ for £8,995 on Dillers is £10,995 On Jake Wright?? Cracking looking defender but it hardly fills me full of confidence?!?

Any thoughts?

if youve got that much cash burning a big hole in your pocket and cant decide what to do give it me and i will spend it for you :D

do your homework on any defender you look at as there are LOTS being nicked at the moment even suposedly reputable dealers have been caught selling nicked cars.

It might have been a bit extra but you really need to understand how they work. Jake Wright's are a Land Rover Specialists - they're enthusiasts just like you and I, Diller's simply buy and sell. That extra couple of thousand would have certainly been poured into the motor, not just slapped on top. They run through absolutely everything: The chassis, engine, drive train, electrics, interior etc. all meticulously scrutinised. If something isnt quite right, it'll be put right and put right to last. Everything will be serviced from the axle oils and the timing belt to air conditioning and coolant, not just an engine oil change or a fuel filter. They also give a pretty good warrenty and their aftercare is excellent. I dont know if as much can be said for Dillers. Jesus it sounds like I'm in sales! Perhaps they'll offer me a job!? :D I'm just a happy customer. Take a trip down to see them if you haven't already made your mind up, it might pay you well.

Jake Wright PROFESS to be a Land Rover specialist - they profess to have worked on Land Rovers as far back as the early 1970's. On the strength of their self promotion, I booked mine in - it came back little better than when it went in - I am embarrassed to say i haven't been took like that for a very long time, cost me thousands. I eventually got a modicum of satisfaction when i threatened them with court action and they refunded me a small sum. I would have gotten even more satisfaction seeing them in court. I suggest they are living on past glories. My opinion - my experience, mid 2023.

Did you pay by credit card? If so look up section 75 and breach of contract.

Diller's 4x4 current website has a couple of high priced Defenders then page after page of "sold" examples which is no use to anyone, in fact it's quite soul destroying to scroll through all the ones you missed.
