Greetings...
My 300tdi D90 has always wept a little but now (the drive has been done) the front diff (where the prop-shaft enters) has developed a daily drip (or three).

ebaY (the font of all knowledge) show a seal and flange fit linky to kit or simply a seal linky 2 seal

Is it an easy job to replace just the seal ?
Should I replace the seal and the flange ?

You just need the seal.
Un-bolt the drive shaft, this reveals a big nut,(not sure what size)take that off.You can then see the seal.
I screwed a self tapper into the seal and pulled it out with a claw hammer.
Refit the new one by tapping it in with a suitable sized socket.

Just a new seal is ok if the flange is in good condition but if there is a groove (more common than you might think) then you will need to replace it as well.
When I did mine I took no chances and ordered the flange kit (not expensive) just in case and as it turned out I was right to do so. I had the job done very quickly whereas if I hadn't got the flange to hand I would have had to wait.
