I am finding it difficult to keep up with the chaps who have fitted rear diff locks! I am torn between an ARB airlocker and a Detroit! Can anyone shed some light on the subject?
Pros and cons of both, I have Detroit and love it.
The subject has been done to death on here, just do a search.

I cant give you any info re the ARB but i have recently found out i have a detroit locker in the rear and can honestly say that for on road use i never even noticed it was there, I have had a few discos now without a rear locker and never even noticed the detroit in there but off road it is awesome, it has made my disco into a bit of a beast
You are looking at the wrong lockers
Why buy lockers that have failings
ARB leak air
Ditroits blow up

You want a Ashcroft locker
Buy it from crown diffs it's cheaper than Ashcroft's
Could you be so kind to give a failure rate for them. Or did you thrash the **** out of it and then broke??????????? 1 out of how many million on the road. You ever had a tyre failure???????????? oh had a flat tyre those( what ever brand are ****) so buy such and such.
Anyone had any experiance with the kam electronic locker?

Sorry to hear that some people have had trouble with Detroit locker. For my own part I can only say I have had mine about 18 months, Im out in the fields most days,Lots of towing a cattle trailer, bit of road work and a bit of laning. And Ive had no problems at all. Its been great for traction and totally trouble free.I wonder if they are broken in very hard charging comp. situations and when people are running oversize wheels and tyres?
Ive had ARB inSeries before and they were good too but Ive had agg with the compressors. They have the advantage of no effect on road handling at all tho the detroit doesnt make my vehicle unmannerly on the road.
Never tried Ashcroft diff. but Ive had other stuff from them and Its been excellent. I dont think I knew they made them when I bought my DL or I would have tried that
Detroit locker failures in recent years have been very common. There have been quite a few threads on the subject
Ashcroft stopped selling the Rover style Detroit due to failures and poor support from Eaton.**He still sells the Salisbury ones.
They **** simple
Like I say buy Ashcroft's no fails to date
the detroit you bought was 2nd hand when you got it, you dont know how it was treated before you got it,
ive a detroit in my 110 and its been good, but does effect the road driving a little
