Diff Lock! ARB Airlocker? Detroit?

My mates rear arb went bang, smashed the crown wheel to bits ripped the teeth of the input shaft, smashed the input bearing, ripped the splines off the input shaft and the drive flange, and snapped the prop? I'm seeing him again on Sunday I believe the arb is in damaged,

I have a Detroit locker do far so good, fit and forget, ive seen people with air lockers stuck where i wasnt, they had but there lockers in when they where stuck. shich was to late. but as 300tdistu has mention his had a massive failur,

Steve at crown diffs said he would recommend Ashcroft lockers,

Arbs have failures,
Kam lockers are a pig to fit,
Detroits are cheep. Parts to rebuild are not,

It will come down to the £££ you have to spend, I got a very good deal on my trutrac and locker.
 
When I spoke to home he said I can have which ever I want front that list, he's independent apparently.

Ive spoken to him a few times on the phone, he seems like a genuine bloke and well up on his subject and certainly didnt try and push me to buy any particular brand. I would look atAshcroft mainly cos its British made and their stuff is good,but Im not expecting to need another diff any time soon!
 
You will not be saying that if you snap a shaft and it blow it's self to bits

Just under 12 month my one lasted

A little update on this thread, my Detroit is dead! after two halfshafts in less than 4 months finally the diff itself has given up, it keeps locking and unlocking on the opposing shafts-something it isnt supposed to do :(


If anyone has a standard disco 300 rear diff they want to sell me than im interested whilst i strip the detroit and see what i need to do. Im coming over at xmas in the car so i can collect in the 10 days or so im in the UK. Ta

where bouts in the uk are yer residing over xmas pol?

Cheers mate, its a 24 spline 3 bolt flange.

my 4 bolt prop is seized at the moment so running a three bolt until i have time to sort it, but i have all the flanges to convert back to 4 bolt when needed.


If you can get a price it would be much appreciated as Shipley is very close to where i will be when over, mostly Idle and that area.
