Hi All

Yesterday I did my air and oil filters and left the fuel filter until today, not realising how easy and quick it is!

However when I get underneath I find the sensor isn't connected. The connector block is taped up out of the way.

My question is this - is there a common problem with these? Did the previous owner disconnect because the sensor didn't work or because there is a wiring fault? I would like to get the sensor reinstated as soon as poss.

Thanks in advance
Stu

If serviced regularly, then the a missing water sensor is not a problem.

Its 99% likely that it is missing as a result of being broken after a prior filter change. They are only made of plastic, and, if overtightened, will easilly break, and at £18.00, most will just put a bolt in it.

They are a pain in the arse, I replace the filter every year and the dash warning light appears every so often, especially after heavy rainfall, usually during a long journey, I've learned to live with it and eventually goes out itself.

Thanks for asking ClassikFan, saved me asking a related question. My diesel filter light does not come on at all, even during self test, but seeing as I'll be doing filter changes myself, it's no problem.

Diff.

Well I've answered that question - got underneath tonight and plugged the connector back in, apart from the wire bit to hold it in place being missing the result is an illuminated dash light. I guess the sensor is faulty, looking back at the vehicles records I see a new one was fitted back in 2010. It may well be taped back up out of the way again soon!
