Just to decypher Gordan's vernacular:
WOT = Wide Open Throttle

I think Gordan should decypher his own vernacular!!
I hope ya washed yr hands??
Indeed. A dump valve on a diesel engine would be a bit pointless, though, since there is no throttle - diesels always effectively run at WOT.
This is usually fitted to diesels with an EGR system...it creates a manifold vacuum - by creating a pressure diferential between incoming charged air and the exhaust recirc system to draw in exhaust gas.

ok thanks , thing is...you mention gear box, i always drive it carefully, dont accelerate hard, keep the revs to 2-2250 onn the motorway , very rarley "give it some " or accelerate fast , so would that still effect the gear box ?
ive not driven it too much yet but weathers on the turn now so its soon to be in full use and il really start to work out fuel use and havea go with it and see how it feels, but i stress im fuel wise over speed/power in this
but i fully see what your saying,and agree with you, about bmw/land rover in the making and tuning of these, and my bmw car etc im fully standard and would not dream of such a thing in my e30, but then thats not a 2 ton diesel truck
Gearbox would only be effected if you did a lot of towing in my view. Normal acceleration (none towing) should not effect the gearbox.
good stuff thats what i thought and also my driving style is not hard on it either, and i rarley/if ever tow , or only in an emergency if i did
Have PSI gone bust nowadays? I would like a PSI or other power box for my P38 and I came across this thread. Are there any other companies that are doing a power box for these now or are they a bit long in the tooth to still be supplied for?
