With the sump plug out, because it is on the side of the sump the oil will shoot out in a horizontal jet - a long way - especially as there is 9 litres in there. Make sure you have elastic bands round your sleeves at your wrists, and be ready to shift the collecting bowl to catch the oil before it hits the floor. Don't ask how I know .
Definitely do not start the engine or it will all end badly (again don't ask me how I know. I was a yoof once).

My patent oil catcher for side type sump plugs. Catches the oil and funnels it into the washing up bowl.

A mobile mechanic i know came and drained it, put 5 litres in, then said it should be good for another gallon to go in. I just drained from the sump. Took 2 litres or so out. The dipstick is now reading at the HI mark. So should be good now yes? Or shall i drain a bit more tomorrow? It's at the HI mark on the indented part. Still between the two indents.

Didn't shoot out, just kind of glugged.

I think i might be retarded.

The distance between Min/Max is around a Litre..

If it's on the "full" mark, leave it alone, its at the right place..

Cheers Henry, i'm not sure what the actual capacity is, i'm assuming somewhere around 7L since 5 went in wednesday, then another 4 today, then 2 came back out, so left at 7L. So i guess around there, I was finding online something around 6.75L as the capacity. Dipstick is sitting consistently on HI mark so i'll leave it i guess.

Cheers all, i guess someone in the future will read this and not make my mistake ;)

The owners manual will have the capacity, in pints I would of thought or some other prehistoric Imperial measurement.

Couldn’t find anything in the manual describing fluid levels. Simply says top up as required. It’s Haynes.

I’m thinking there’s about 7L in it, dip stick is hard to read as it’s clean.

Opinions? I’m thinking it’s okay and will start her up in a mo

Depends if you filled the filter at all. 6 will be ok, start it up until the oil light goes out then leave it 5 mins and re check the level. If the light didn't go out after 5 seconds then stop and check the level after leaving 5 mins to settle

Well I didn’t do that. The mechanic did. I believe he did. He managed to get oil on the drive so I reckon so. Cheers. I’ll do that
