Yeah still nice and bright as long as they key the surface (media/husk or glass )you will get a good Finnish. .glass is the best as it's not so harsh that it pits the surface as the glass compresses and breaks down unlike something like iron ore grit which can wear the alloy away in front of your eyes ...wasting your time powdering them if you can't clean them first ..

Not if you thought it looked nice Ha ha ...sorry my mistake. .looking at the thicker part looks like a polyester powder / epoxy polyester powder as you can get that thick unlike a wet paint that would run so I would say yes it looks like powder if you where going to repaint them you can do a quick test by scrapping a 2p or copper coin across it...the idea is the powder should not come of unlike a wet paint probably would ....either way I'd recommend to get it shot before powdering them due to the heat needed to coat them...No, mate. I used kiln dried sand, having blocked all the openings, which got them to about this stage - though this after this pic they got a bit more pain to get them properly clean:-
Then degreased, new genuine seals & SS pistons, primed and then painted with Tractol post office red, and back on the vehicle:-

That's very decent of you @Crashalot, thanks but I can't do powder coating. I may do what disco did and paint them with a high temperature paint.
