Do I get a Defender or Discovery?

Discovery is very comfortable although after time you do find the seat bases fall through then you tie them up are 300tdi with no mods but big roofracks happily and comfortably does 80-85 mph and its only just ran in with 190,000 genuine miles on the clock good off road with only the simplest mods and big offroad tires and it comfortable for 400mile trips wich have traveled freequently
 
Assuming this will be your only vehicle now the freebies knackered I think for ferrying around kids the Disco is a better choice but I think that you really want a Defender. In which case go for a 110, much safer for child seats than sidefacing seats on the 90.

It's also illegal to use a child seat on a side-facing seat. so legally the bairns would need to be carried unrestrained in the back. 110 CSW if you get a defender. But still think a 5 door disco would be better for you with 3 little uns.
 
go fa a 110 csw,cos wi three kids yul need all the load space fa all the kids stuff.disco's ar gud but theres no were near enough room in the boot!
 
Get a Defender. A Discovery is ok for the school run, but in truth it's just another plastic landy. Defenders are great if you can cope with the noise and limited comfort. If you play with them a bit they can be improved a lot.

same here :) hung out for my 300tdi county spec van in epsom green (with colour coded roof ;) ) waited about 6 months and travelled the country looking at crap ones!

defender wins my vote. discos are confy but boring. also i find my defender easier to work on than my disco. easier to modify, better off road. i dont find it that uncomfortable. body panels much easier to replace. less rust with a defender. and easier to remove and refit a gear box. been spending about a month under my disco and still not sorted.

thats my opinion

Why Boring? or better off-road? A standard disco will do anything a standard defender will do. Agree a defender is easier to maintain than a disco. But then they're nosier colder and leak more than discos do as well. If you're going to have an opinion at least let it be a balanced one.
