Defender Front Half shaft replacement

Hi, trying to change front halfshaft on 1987 defender 110. Are they any detailed threads with photographs of how to do this. I suspect this is the half shaft broken on the near side after doing usual checks. Should this just slide out after un bolting or do i need to remove the hub. Anyway help would be good Cheers
 
you need to removew brake caliper,drive flange ,hub ,stub axle the whole drive shaft ,if you hold half shaft cv will knock off with copper hammer ,lump of wood etc,when refitting cv to half shaft theres a snap ring that will need to be compressed wit a screw driver while tapping half shaft in ,as a rule of thumb its usual the drivers side half shaft that busts first as longer shaft has more flex but cvs either or,when refitting you can use rtv silcone sealant instead of gaskets and pull cv through stub axle to seat properly as you fasten stub axle up
 
Posted today ref changing the front half shaft on my 110 defender. I'm not hundred percent sure that it is the half shaft. I did the normal check i.e lifting each wheel of and spinning but both wheels were spinning. Also checked the propshaft and it spins when in dif lock with wheels jacked up but does not move the wheels. Likewise no movement in prop when wheels moved when jacked up. Need some more advice do you think its the diff thats knackered???
