So, this weekend I bought. A disco 200 tdi for my dead defender 200 tdi. I though I'd list the things you need to consider to save people the problems I've faced.

1st you need to swap the clutch housing over so the disc engine will bolt straight to the defender box. And swap the disco engine mounts for defender mounts. It will the drop in. If you don't intend it connect to the original exhaust.

If you do want it to connect to the defender exhaust you need to remove the exhaust manifolds and swap them for the discovery ones. Note the discovery turbo is completely different to the defender one.

If you want the defender wiring loom to fit you need to swap the alternators. Oh and the discover oil cooler pipes are not long enough and the defender ones don't fit onto the discovery oil filter housing so that needs to swapped .over to.

I didn't get the discovery power steering pump and guess what the defender doesn't fit into the discovery bracket, and the defender power steering pump fits onto the timing belt cover. And the discovery trimming belt cover is different. So this has to be swapped but the diesel pump is in slight.y different position so that has to be adjusted to make the defender timing cover fit. This is as far as I very got, Ive got the timing to do and sort, then I've had the head reconditioned off my 90 so I'm swapping this and changing head gasket. The having the discovery head recondition then selling. Il update this when I've done this to inform of any issue I come across.

Hope this aye help some one.
