More photos of the slamdrover please!!!

haha I thought someone would say that... Here you go. It's owned by a friend of mine and has been through a few previous owners.
I am told it's partially made from the 3rd Series 1 off the production line, which was rotting and forlorn in a hedge.
The salvaged parts of the landy were mixed with the remains of a Rover P5 (I think?). It's a rear wheel drive V8 with an auto 'box.
It's currently having new floor sections fabricated to suit the new gearbox.

So....

A landy-orientated garage has opened near me, and informed me that my straight through exhaust system will knacker my turbo due to lack of back pressure.
Whilst it has been an intention of mine to fit a silencer (yes, the exhaust sounds cool as anything, but the sheer volume of it is somewhat tiring after a while) to the side exit system, if this is true, is it too late? Has anyone else had experience of this?

I believe that "Slamdrover" has an epic thread about it on Retro Rides. In fact I am going to go looking for it now.

Oh, and nice Landie Corbs. Quite fancy doing mine in matt/satin black one day when it's a bit more battered.

Lack of backpressure actually improves the turbo performance as it allows a quicker spool up when you boot it. I would also expect it to aid cooling once your foot is off the pedal

Thanks guys, guess I will wait and see! And thanks LandyPilot, I do need to DA the whole thing and repaint though as it's getting a bit scraggy. Turned the pressure washer on it recently and it took a load of bubbly paint off

Did a pretty mammoth 1,021 mile round trip to Scotland and back this weekend to retrieve my Pulsar (my friend is going to use it over winter) - amazingly after 2 years we put the battery leads back on and it started straight away!
Bender was pretty great, really stable and providing you got the gears right, not too slow towing. A stereo would have been nice.

So, after having a new high pressure power steering hose fitted (old one was corroded and spraying everywhere) all was pretty swell.
Unfortunately the timing belt snapped on saturday while on the dual carriageway. Luckily I managed to roll up to my house, where it still is while I wait for parts. Have ordered a timing belt kit and a few other odds and ends (pushrods etc) as would rather be able to reassemble it on the day.
Timing belt kit (dayco) turned up, and all the bearings etc are bloody britpart! That's being sent straight back, and a bearmach one ordered.
Ugh....

if the britparts end in g/oem i'd use them or check for a branded stamp on the parts

Thanks mate, to be honest I didnt want to risk it so will see how the bearmach ones shape up. The price difference was only about 20 quid so not too bad.

Pulled the rocker cover off, took rocker shaft out, and this thing was sitting under it, just loose.
Any ideas what it is?

Pushrods all look straight. Rockers all intact.

Makes me wonder about the diagnosis. Hmmm.

Is that a spring loaded plunger with a seal at one end? Whatever it is it shouldn't be there!

Yeah it's been chewed up as well. I just don't recognise it from anywhere. The only time I've had the rocker cover off since I got the car was to do the gasket.

I likes yer side lockers, who make those?
heres mine

Cheersen! The brand is MICRA, originally made for trucks as a storage locker (has the brushes in the hinge gap as well) - everyone assumes it's ex-military when they see it!

It looks vaguely like part of the pump you get in the vintage oil cans with the hand operated trigger:confused:

Its the injector housing! My friend realised.
Look at this pic, 2nd one to the front has been replaced at some point, guess the old one was dropped into the engine
