Hi all if you are following this.
I have found a V8 110 county cheap (89), is it too much work to 300Tdi or not bad if I am considering a re-chassis anyway?

If you are going to re-chassis then its relatively easy . If you are using a 300tdi auto then for ease of electricals , fit it with a manual fip . the whole engine and gearbox will just drop straight in . You can mod the rad and intercooler carrier from disco to fit in a defender quite easily. The floor and tunnel wont need modding as its an auto . 99.9 of parts should be standard HTSH

So I am not trying to be cheap but I can't find what I am looking for. Also I can't decide on what I want!!! I can't decide if I want 110 or 90 and how much I want to pay.
The 110 is great for what I want but if I go for a csw there may be more but to source and buy. It also makes the project physically bigger. If I go 90, I should be able to make some nice and compact.
If any body is in my local area (Chester/North Wales) and knows of either that is keenly priced and may need some or a lot of work, please let me know.
So my Disco now has new cambelt inc pulley and idlers, new ancillary belt, new auto box strainer, gearbox fluid and new P seal.
I hope tomorrow to do engine oil, oil, air and fuel filters.

90 or 110 its the same amount of work , unless rechassis when the 110 csw is a bit more work , but not much . The 110 csw will give you more front seat travel if you are not that "compact" yourself. The 110 is a better ride, and more versatile , and they arent that noticably bigger outside either . Obviously the power to weight ratio will be better with a 90 , but neither will be a rocket ship. Well I have been looking and looking but so many LRs are being bid up to silly mine on flea bay. I have looked at bumtree but nothing local.
Will be posting a wanted add on here when I have enough posts.

Yep, this is what I aquired. It is a 200tdi, so I am a gluten for punishment and need to do more work. Spent more than I was going to, so no re-chassis but I needed to get something or I would be looking for ever. It also seems that since TopGear said buy one quick before they have gone, prices are crazy.

If I was to grind the engine mounting from my TD could someone give me measurements for 300Tdi engine mountings or should I be able to get them from my 300Tdi disco?

You can just cut them off the disco , and then bolt to engine , lower powertrain into new chassis and use gearbox cross member as datum , then
you can use rad fan and shroud at front end to get correct alignment , then tack mountings in place , unbolt from engine , lift powertrain out , and complete welding . Simples :)
