Hi all,

I am wanting to fit heated seats to my defender 90.

I have been on the exmoor trim site and you can get full leather re trim kit with new foams and bases for about £300, and then they also sell the genuine landrover heated pads for the seats at £65 each.

I have then seen a wiring loom on ebay with genuine switches for about £45.

However i can not seem to find the connectors which connect the wiring loom to the connectors on the heated seat pad.

Does anybody know where i can get this connector? i would rather have it than have to cut the genuine connector of the seat pad and join the cables.

Total price for this job would equate to about £470 which is quite expensive but for that your getting full leather seats that are heated. I havent seen any this cheap myself brand new?

No it's not that one the loom I was looking at was this 2 x Genuine Land Rover Defender heated seat switch & loom Td4 Tdci 90 110 Puma | eBay

The switches are included with that one you see but they have no connector to connect straight to the heated pads? Probably so you can use after market stuff.

I was also wondering whether there should be a relay or whether you just take a direct feed to the switch then straight to the seat

In the factory heated seat circuit, there are no relays, the seat heating pads are switched directly.

I can supply the proper connectors to fit to the seatbox for factory heated seats - C1403 in the picture below -

I'll PM you the details.

Hi Paul , I've wired mine in with a kit bought online.
Does your system slow me to hook into the original wire loom ?
I'd be keen on this .
How would I run the switch wires will there already be a wire hook up in the dash for this ?
If so please pm me
Cheers

Hi Lawrence,

What kit did you buy?

I don't sell a wiring kit, just the individual connectors, clips, etc...

In the factory installation, the feed for the heated seat switches is taken from the bulkhead/dash fuse box, from fuses that are controlled by the window lift relay.

If your Defender is a post-2002 vehicle, the window lift relay, its feed from the under-seat fuse box, and the fuse positions in the bulkhead/dash fuse box, can be retro-fitted, if they're not already there.

The night-time background illumination live and earth for the heated seat switches, goes back to a splice joint in the main harness, and then back to header connector.

The easiest way to retro-fit this, is to piggy-back these circuits from an adjacent switch.
