Hi guys. My partner and I are expecting our first child in December and I have now been tasked with finding a suitable car seat for the front passenger seat in my 2009 90. Has anyone got any experience with car seats as I have googled it but it is a lot to take in haha!

We had a Maxi Cosi Rock-a-tot system which was a baby seat/pushchair/pram, then progressed onto a Maxi Cosi forward facing one, then a 2 piece booster seat thing.
Seemed pretty good quality, 27 years ago though so I imagine things have changed.

Have in recent times had little grandchildren to transport I have to say that todays child/baby seats are rather large when compered to plastic bucket baby one of 35 years ago.
Modern cars have a built in system to lock in child seats so you will need a type that can also be fitted using the usual seat belt.
The plastic bucket above did its job [ it was small enough to fit in the middle seat position] some 33 years ago when Volvo estate pulled out right in front of us. The impact removed the Volvos rear axle and although damaged Landy was repaired [ Still drive it today] Halfords have a wide range.

I have just converted my 110 hardtop To a station wagon after the birth of our first December 23, and we are expecting a second this December, so I have very recently been through the car seat challenges with a Land Rover.

As stated above modern cars use isofox systems to mount car seats for children. This is not present in a Land Rover so you need a car seat that can be secured with a seatbelt.

My wife has an X1 which has isofox so we bought the Cybex Cloud Z2 system for the new born stage. This had the isofox mounting base for her car. And then the layflat baby seat could either clip to the base in hers or be secured with a seatbelt in the front of the Land Rover (still a hardtop at this stage). I do
Not know if this is still Available as this was 18months ago. But being able to use the same seat with both isofix and a seatbelt securing to the vehicle made things much easier.

Now he is a toddler my wife bought the next size up seat from cybex and uses the sa isofix base. I then Went to Halfords to talk about car seats and ended up with a Joie one. I am not sure of the model but I will try and find out for you, but it starts rear facing and can then turn to be front facing when the child is older. There was very little choice for seatbelt mounted options so be prepared for that. May also be why you are struggling with an online search, I had the same issue which is why I went into store.

Here is some pictures of the toddler car seat currently in use in the Land Rover, I know not quite the same as it is now a station wagon so it is fitted in the rear.

This is is very true. Both in the Land Rover and the wife’s X1 the passenger seat in front of the child seat needed moving forward. And if I am sitting in the front of the X1 my knees only just do not touch the dash (cannot put a hand on them).
