Defender 300Tdi Clutch

My clutch has suddenly gone slack. It pushes right to the floor without any counter pressure but you can easily pull it back with your hand and the return spring. The master cylinder is still full of fluid (it was replaced in August) and there is no fluid on the floor mat. When you depress the clutch pedal the master cylinder piston moves but no pressure as I've said. Not sure whether it the slave (any test) - given master is still full of fluid so fluid not lost or whether there's a connection between the slave and the rest of the clutch mechanism which has failed so the rod is not pushing against anything - i.e. its not linked to the rest of the clutch mechanism.

Any thoughts ?

When mine did the same, It would go to the floor and not return, unless pulled up by hand.
But I found the fluid had dropped. The slave cylinder had failed and the fluid was going in the bell housing. It eventually dripped out of the wading plug hole.
I suppose yours could be a failed MC or the slave rod has punched thru the clutch arm.

You could easily pull the slave cylinder out , it should leave the rod behind, be gentle with the rod in the arm as the little plastic clip is prone to snapping.
Once the slave cylinder is removed from the bellhousing check the rod still sits in the clutch arm correctly. You should be able to feel if it correct.

Do not press the clutch pedal if the slave cylinder is removed.

My guess,is the master cylinder seals have gone,so, when pedal is pressed fluid is passing the seal,thus n ot leaking out.

clutch lever ball pushed through????

It's most certainly hydraulic-related. Most probably tired seals on master / slave. I would just change both for peace of mind.
