Hey guys!
I'm doing a complete restoration on my friend's 110 1987 Defender (left hand drive).
The Landy is completely dismantled, the frame was galvanised and I'm ready to rebuild everything.
When opening the front differential, I noticed that the pinion/ring gear were completely shot (missing a few teeth).
Since I also need to replace everything on the axle housing (seals, wheel bearings, swivel housing rebuild kit, cv axles and flanges, brake discs, etc), I was wondering what were my rebuild options.
Is it worth it to replace the "10 spline diff" for a more recent rebuilt "24 spline"? (94+)
If so, would it bolt on the actual diff housing? (the housing is in great shape, just needs some sandblasting/painting)
If yes, what else needs to be replaced with 94+ parts except the cv axles?
I'm also asking because there seems to be a lot more options for 94+ aftermarket parts (brakes, caster corrected swivel housing, cv axles, flanges, etc)
I did a lot of research and I'm having trouble to figure out what exactly is interchangeable.
For exemple : Can I use my 87' swivel housing on a 94' caster corrected swivel ball kit if I replace everything with 94+ parts? (note that I'll have a 2 inch Old Man Emu lift)
The front axle code is 21L.
Also note that I'm located in the far east of Quebec, Canada. Used parts options are limited/non-existent.
I'll pretty much need to order everything online. LRPARTS is where I'm shopping.
