decatted my td4 yesterday, turbo seams to spin up earlier and engine feels more responsive, will update on economy if it has made any difference.
Won't it fail MOT with no cat?
Ok just wondered will wait to see if it makes a difference I'm looking for my next mod
My mate is a mot tester, and he said its a fail with a decat for Diesel,he said he wouldn't even pass mine,i had to put the cat back on.
That why you are better to remove the inner by what ever way you fine easier and replace, it then looks like it should do and will not get a second glance for mot
Thanks for this Singvogal,Ill have a look at Vosa,he's a bit of a knob anywaySorry pal, but that is complete and utter bolloc*s.
I wouldn't go near any MOT garage that said that - as they have obviously not read the latest/current VOSA Tester's Inspection Manual or the VOSA regular bulletins and updates.
VOSA had so many folks 'phone them about this that they actually issued a memo clarifying the situation.
Only petrol engined vehicles are subjected to a full cat and emmisions test and will fail if there was one fitted at the factory and it is missing.
Diesels only get a smoke test - the so-called 'cat' on a diesel is actually a particulate filter and is a different beast alltogether.
Get the VOSA downloads and read the truth.
Singvogel.
