Pretty much as is says in the title. Having changed the doors, been stood for six months and flat battery the message display is giving the message the ignition key is in when I open the drivers door. Do I need to worry about this? As is have no intention but thought I had better ask in case it is the harbinger of doom!!!

Thanks in advance.

Ignition switch needs a clean.....

Blow some air down it and then get some graphite powder, put it on the key blade and work it into the ignition switch a few times....should unstick.

Not hsrbinger of doom, but it may not lock if the car thinks the key is in the ignition.

Thanks, Saint.V8, by graphite powered I assume you mean rub some pencil on to the key and work it in to the lock? Cars standing around really doesn't do them any good. Took some time for the heater controls to work and direct the air to where needed. Sprayed household polish in to the lower vents, not sure if it helped but the hot air can be directed as required now!

No he meant graphite powder. Lock lubricant. Look on eBay.

Thanks for confirming, Wammers. Ordered.

I usually spray in some contact cleaner a few times, specially around drop down latch at top blow out with air line on each application. Then graphite lube work key in and out a few times then more graphite. When key is removed warning should go off and there should be a click as steering lock engages.
