Hi , just continuing to sort niggly issues my disco leans to the left a bit , don’t think any air leaks etc it’s always prob been this way just a bit more lately , I’ve tried using my autel to calibarate just believe it’s too far out for this tool , is there any Indy’s in Kent that calibarate , usually work the problem myself with all your help but think the gap tool is the one for this but out of my budget this close to Christmas ?

Hi, these are snapshots for D3 special function list of Foxwell 510 (Elite now) same as 530

maybe worth a try cos it might pay for itself in short time and way less than Gap or Nanocom https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT530L.html , if it doesnt work i suppose you can get a refund... i bought one which dissapointed me for the D2 engine management but i used it with success on some D3s, didnt use it for suspension calibration but it worked well for steering column calibration and brake bleed also for fault codes and live data, gave it to a friend who has a RRS as Christmas present last year and he is pleased with it

hi mate

what Autel do u have plse , if it’s the Autel AP200 in white they have different software versions , personally have an Autel AP200 , gap iid and a more complicated Autel MX808 , as they really helped when I had errors show up on my D3

have u measured the heights in mm from the centre of the wheels to the bottom of the wheel arch liner with the suspension in normal ride height

where abouts in Kent are u plse

Hi ,
Yea the autel ap 200 in white you reccomended it yourself last year for a budget one , I’m in ashford , this morning the car is high at the back and low at the front a very uncomfortable drive to work this morning, it stayed that way for the hour journey and again back home , I try lower it to access mode it goes down then instantly goes up saying extended mode and to reset suspension if clear of obstacle if that gives any clue ?

that’s weird as mine works on the suspension using the Autel ap 200

would Be tempted to check the height sensor plugs to ensure the contacts are ok, indeed sounds like for some reason the calibration has gone out of sync , maybe not getting a proper signal from the height sensors

if ur disco is pre 2007 there are 3 x connectors behind the front passenger side wheel arch liner, after 2007 there behind the headlight ,

using the Autel u can un hook the height sensors and see if the live values change ,

think @lynall is ur way ,

do have a larger Autel that can work on any vehicle , , ur one should at least give u fault codes

also assume ur battery is ok as know a low battery can cause issues, would first double check to see what the live data is before touching anything seeing it’s miserable working in the cold , along with what fault codes come back

that should at least give us a direction to go in , plus u fitted a new compressor didn’t u, assume it was like for like

hope that helps

My autel does calibarate it’s just saying it’s out too much or along those lines , I now got the red suspension light come up exceed 30 mph etc , on the stops , I’m going to try get it normal height and pull fuse to get home then have a good look . What shall I look for on the live readings to try give me a clue ?

ah I see, many thks as that makes more sense , indeed with the 30 mph restriction it thinks it’s in off road height

taken a screen shot for u as an example , top SG wire should read 5 Vdc , middle wire SO should read between 1.3 - 2.5 Vdc, bottom wire SB is ur ground wire

so need to ensure there all reading 5 Vdc first on each one as if that’s bad that will indicate a bad connector / pin

also enclosed a full wiring diagram for u , if it’s all of a sudden gone out of sync that will point to a wiring/ connector issue , even a bad earth can cause this

what Year is yours plse , so give it a scan first to see what codes come back plse then the live data

Plse let us know what u find , hope that helps

Your so knowledgeable the diagrams make me dizzy lol , I put fuse back in drove for 10 mins it no warning has come back on , woukd it have triggered again if a fault present or does it need certain speed or time to give out a warning , the 4x4 screen does show the right rear a bit out compared to others could this throw the lot out and it be a case of calabiration ? I will check the voltage as you mention first thing in the morning many thanks for your help so stressful this car and Lynall was right I getting loads of issues with it .

Oh and 2008 says on autel although it’s a 57 reg

Gap iid is vin locked, unlocked gap iid is over 2k.

Mine has always had a lean to one side since I have had it.

I calibrated mine no issue with the AP200, I think your issue lies within the height sensors. Are there any fault codes read from the cars ECU that have been recorded when the suspension is playing up with it's traffic lights?

Mine saying outside of Allowance etc , did you just measure between middle hub and arch and type in exactly what you measured or you need to fool it some other way etc ? Im hoping it’s calabiration over anything faulty here’s what I got fault wise , and the info pic was almost level then after a 10 min drive went like pic

ur so very welcome, alas I picked my knowledge up when I had to virtually rebuild my entire suspension system

tell u what , I’ve got a very good scanner , multimeters , testers etc , my own drive way so don’t have to worry about working in the road

if ur able to get up to me in Swanley I’ll plug my scanner in and go through the entire suspension system for u to see if we can pin down all the errors

have a decent trolley jack and axle stands , alas I can’t remove wheels or move the trolley jack / axle stands etc around because of my back , annoyingly the other day I tried to move it with no success because I need to bleed my brakes out and change the fluid

Sorry I’m waffling , lol, I don’t mind spending 3-4 hours on it for u for the huge sum of FOC

know it can be very frustrating , so more than happy to test everything step by step

at the end of the day if u don’t mind if needs be to remove ur wheels and place axle stands underneath I can do all the testing for u

hope that’s useful to u mate

Hi mate

that’s strange as mine was also very slightly leaning to left hand side , removed the front wheel arch liner, cleaned the earth posts and checked the other 3 x connectors which resolved it after I had also recalibrated it a few times

found out those earth posts were used by the ECM, TCM and suspension system

haven’t used my scanner yet for suspension but would imagine in can do alot of things , plus assume the D1 and D2 are included due to the dates going back to 1994

That’s a lovely offer and gives me hope be nice to gain some knowledge from your experience the hours and stress of Googling the same faults over and over just fries my brain , I’m going to attempt another go tommorow with the tape measure and calabaration and if no progress is made il certainly arrange and take you up on your offer thank you so much .

Just out of curiosity has anyone recently worked on the vehicle?

Maybe get some cleaner to clean up the sensor plug/ socket.

Tomorrow try and recalibrate the settings on all four corners and see what then happens. I used a tape measure to ensure all the corners were the correct height.

You're in good company surrounded by folk who have had major suspension issues myself included down the years.

You'll get there with it.

Yea a week ago changed the driveshaft driver side , il update tommorow

No didn’t touch it as far as I know and drove the car for a week after with no issues other then noticing it was leaning more left and maybe higher at the back , maybe an issue with me jacking it up , I can’t say I put it in off road mode when jacking it , but I’ve jacked it up many times before without this
