Hi

My d2 was in today having the ball joint replaced and has come back with abs warning light quickly followed by the other two amigos!

Must have known I was going to sell her as I have my defender arriving tomorrow.

I assume the wheel sensor has been knocked or a wire pulled. I’ll have a look possibly over the weekend and take it from there.

What fun! Posting only to share joy really.

If it went in without a problem and come back with one then I suggest whoever worked on it has caused the problem.
Maybe mention it to them?

Yes. He had to work quite hard to get the ball joint out so likely he knocked it. I need to do a service ready for sale so I will replace the sensor then. Luckily quite cheap part.

I would recommend buying a new hub that has the sensor already fitted. The gap between the reluctor ring (inside the hub) and sensor is critical. By all means try a replacement sensor, but be aware that the gap may require some adjustment.

Thanks. That may be easier I guess and not much more in terms of cost. I suppose it will also help the next owner.

Now after several weeks and with new abs leads and new hubs and track rod ends it is back and working better than ever!

Now… do I sell?
If you don't need to....... I've just driven 130 odd miles to Malvern Hills LR weekend in the fully loaded D2 & got here feeling like I'd been sitting in my favourite armchair 🙂.

I don't find my son's D2 comfortable yet I can sit in my Defender all day (almost), very strange.
Tis a little weird, but then I could drive my 300tdi Disco 1 all day no probs, but if I do the same in the D2 TD5 I tend to get muscle pain across my back between the shoulder blades.
apart form the D1 having leather seats and the D2 cloth.....
