My rear prop Shaft has fell off does anyone know where I could grab one in Kent used preferred or just the prop insert will do.tia
 
"prop fell off" is a bit general, more specifics?
If it's just the rubbber flexi-joint and no other harm was done, you could just replace that, but if it went down the road too far and fecked itself up then sure, you need a new propshaft!
 
AS it sounds you might have lost the bolts of the rubber flektor and all. check the holes in the triangular flange.. if they aren't gone get the rubber donut with a fitting kit
 
Sorry felt it get lose pulled over and it dropped off one side as I stopped as the flange (may not be the correct term)had come of the bracket

The prop shaft has a rubber flexijoint on the end which connects to the flange of the diff pinion.
If the rubber fractures, the prop will drop. There is no bracket involved.
If you have not bent or otherwise harmed the prop shaft in anyway, you might get away with just replacing the rubber flexijoint, but if the prop hit other stuff, like the road or the underside of the vehicle, it may be distorted which will lead to vibration at the very least.
Take the prop off, and examine it very carefully for signs of abrasion and distortion. also check no balance weight has been knocked off.
If you are confident it is all OK then order and fit a new rubber donut.
 
Too far away for me to help I have a spare new donut & propshaft.
I also have a spare new wide angle prop & 4 bolt flange to get rid of the dungnut. :)

Sorry guys I don't believe mine had the dounut I assume had been changed has a flexible uj both sides or supposed to
 
Sorry, is yours a V8?
If a 300tdi should have had a rear prop with ordinary U/J to transfer box and rubber donut to rear axle, if a V8, imsc, an ordinary U/J to both ends.
Does that help?
 
Sounds like a uni needle bearing cup has lost it's retaining circlip and the trunnion, cross piece has popped out. If you're lucky just a bit of clean up of flange bearing cup bores and a uni joint kit will fix it.

Not quite correct, the rubber donut type has a central guide bush in the diff end of the driveshaft/prop shaft and a ball ended guide pin into the diff mounted three legged flange on the diff, so what will normally happen if the donut fails is the driveshaft/propshaft will stay on centre with the metal arms and bolt heads coming together to continue drive, albeit noisily. Had it happen on my first Tdi, shaft will not drop out.
But that doesn't help this guy, sounds like his has been converted to both end Uni joints.

sod to get off. I confess the first time I changed the rubber donut, I just left the old guide bush in. The second time I did change it after a struggle. Confess I still do not know what OP meant by a "bracket" and yes sounds like he's got two u/js.

Sounds like what he meant. Agree totally and hope there is enough metal left for the circlip to stay in!
