Hi all not been on for a bit,so that means everything's been hunky dory with my d1 other than rust :D .been offered a 04 d2 landmark, 106 000 miles on, which currently is showing the 3 amigos. Me being like the rest on here want to be able to service and repair it myself if I choose to buy it.As I have acquired over the years the relevant tools to tackle said tasks ie hammer, chisel,welder,ramps ,axle stands and a bloody good socket and spanner set. I'll want to have a go at all this electrical stuff so what is the best diagnostic tool thingy to buy....I've been through the old posts, and some are a couple of years old,so I know things can change in the matter of months in the software world

i have an Hawkeye, very easy to use, does everything i want it to do, some have a Nancom, basically if the car runs right you don't need any!! chance would be good, but it's a landy!!

I had one of them!:)

Have an Evo now, having used both I would say there is little difference.
I bought the Evo as it had more functions re the air suspension but believe the Hawkeye now does this after upgrade
 
I have them both and both are good, nanocom is smarter, has more functions but can have moments of it's own and not be 100% reliable, especially with BCU and ACE, hawkeye is not so fancy(e.g. can't programm used keys and unable to record/store data like nanocom does) but it's made on dealer's Testbook T4 original software and 100% reliable... it's a matter of choice
 
What about old ones with the barcode? as Its possible to work that out from the lable on the chip, or you can wither the Rover 75 keys and the new Maxi which appear to be the same PCB as the D2 key
