He's talked of going to the anniversary next year with the few Cummins lr's their is out there, which would be interesting if it happens and mine is on the road :)

Hi Aaron,
I admire your effort and work and I thought I might be able to cheer you up a little as it is coming up to the season of good will, as I work for Cummins, I spoke to the lads at the training school about your engine and they have given me some books on the engine so if you want I will send them up to you for free so PM me your address.

Nice gesture mate, good lad!

And top work on the 90, well impressed! Sounds like you've had a difficult year but I'm sure when you pull it out of the drive for the first time it'll feel fantastic! Great work, Ste.

Truly building my dream. I always imagined a 130 twin axled beast like that merc amg thing the australian army use. Twin stacker exhaust an ship horn.

Lol

Give these lot a bell.

Premier Propshafts - Home

They're local to me and have been going for YEARS.

Cheers, will give them a bell when the time comes.

Ah, yes, just a bit longer then :p My rear props going to be short enough as it is.
If it's on the road I may well be interested too :)

****'e year yeah, but I'm sure theirs people worse off than me out there, so I shouldn't complain really.
I know most people wouldn't but I put it on here because it's the only outlet I have and it's better than it boiling up inside me.
Oh and yes, first drive I can't wait for :D

Thanks Kaz :)
And old lad, I'm only a wee bairn :p

:eek::eek::eek::eek: This build is awesome! Fair play to you sir!

I would love to see this in the flesh!

Thanks :D
A lot of people seem to think I'm a nutter and want to see it in person :p

Very impressive

Re props

I've used these guys , sorted a vibration on my transit a few years ago , they have a very good reputation so I'm told

North West Propshafts | Supply, manufacture, repair and fit Propshafts, Driveshafts, CV Joints and Universal Joint, Lancashire, Manchester, UK<

Cheers Wack :)
Will get in touch with them for a price when I get some brass together instead of buying crap I don't need.

I'll second that, know what they're talking about, located in Coppull, Chorley.

Well they sound like a decent company then, nice for the feedback, cheers.

You are a nutter hahah! Does this smoke like you normally see on those yanky wagons you see on youtube?

Haha, thanks :D
It doesn't smoke like the yanky wagons no, but with enough time and money it might :p
I'll be more than happy with 250bhp and 500ft-lbs torque ish.

on my old website i had a picture of my 6x6 cummins 150 i built, being s idiot i sold it

I've seen you mention this a few times, never seen the pictures though :(

I genuinely which that I had the skill and know how to do this!!!

If a thicko like me can do it anyone can, most of it is just thinking about the best way to do stuff.
Sometimes it doesn't work and you have to start again, but it works eventually.
I think I'd like to do another to be honest now I know the conversion a lot better, what works and what's available.

IMS in Great Barr. They did a (standard) front prop for mine.

Cheers, will try them and others when I get some cash.

Oh and a massive thanks to busakaz, turned up yesterday morning :) (I was looking for a thumbs up smiley but we haven't got one)
Interesting reading and some very helpful stuff in their, cheers again :)

just read through this whole thread...
very nice work mate..

I know the sort of problems you`ve overcome due to my years of racing builds.
I was lucky with propshafts as I shortened my own ones that worked very well.
done all the prop work in a old`ish colchester lathe at my then works.
was a simple thing for me, but engineering was my trade.

yep, top marks for the way you tackled the change over..
must make loads of difference in sheer grunt power.

Those diesel american pickup trucks are tuned intentionally to smoke like that, some even have kits fitted to do it, it's got little to do with power. It is also about to get banned in one state and quite rightly so, I don't mind a big diesel but I do object to silly arse americans dumping clouds of black diesel soot into the atmosphere. What's even worse is that they don't seem to understand tuning and think black clouds = big power. Mind you in a country where they need 4.5litres to make the same power we can do in 1.9litres what do you expect.

They really are very dense and naive these guys, if you read comments on youtube you get guys explaining how diesels need to black smoke to make lots of power and it's normal - what they also don't seem to understand is that diesel exhaust is actually pretty horrendous stuff. They might as well go into a spray booth everyday with no mask on.

I'm also surprised that in a country with an environmental agency like the EPA, who will see you in court if you leak too much oil onto the drive, let them away with this.

Anyway rant over, your 90 looks excellent, your doing some good work and I look forward to seeing videos of it running and driving about - with a good clean tune on it!

A few facts and figures here:

A figure from a US car site: 5.8l V8 = 355BHP

A figure from a Euro car site: 2.4l 5 cylinder 335BHP

Imagine what we, as in Europeans, could do with a 5.8l V8! 809BHP if the engine power was linear to capacity!

Not sure if you still are out of work or not mate but seems like you have the foundations to start a niche conversion company for this type of thing! Theres plenty of people who have a big bank account without the ability to do this sort of thing... This is where people like you could charge a tidy sum to do it! Imagine footballers etc who want a brutal winter hack...

Hi Aaron,

I bet you thought Christmas had come early

I am glad the books turned up for you and prove to be helpful for you, look after them because you can't buy them they are for the service engineers, you will find most of the information you need in them but if you need more information PM me as I don't move around the site I normally hang around the posh section:D.
I will be in touch early next year about the open day to see how you are getting on and if you are up for it :).

All the best mate and happy xmas

Cheers Kaz
